A tribute to Izal toilet paper – Digital Art

Who remembers Izal toilet paper? Who could forget it if you do?

They stopped producing it about twenty years ago, but the memory of it sites heavy in the minds of those that came into contact with it. In the days before Andrex and Cashel you would find this stuff in the grandads bathroom or toilet. I have many a memory of going outside in the howling wind and rain to my grandads outdoor privy. The shit house door banging in the wind. Peeling white paint on the walls and the sound and smell of a paraffin heater. My pants around my ankles, cutting one off and then to top it off the inevitable battle with the Izal Medicated Toilet paper. This stuff took no shit from anyone …. literally ! It was awful stuff that was like a mixture of tracing paper and sand paper.

So here is a little nod to its memory. The paper in this picture I purchased from Ebay as you can not get Izal any more. Its actually a rival paper called Bronco, which I am informed was just as dire. I photographed it on the back of our living room door using a coat hook to hold it up. The writing was added in Photoshop.

So here is to the memory of Izal …. where are you now … and thanks for the memory.

Digital Art Updates … The lost files

I don't know if you can recall a few months ago when I said I think I might have deleted some images, at least I have misplaced them on the computer? Well they turned up again and here they are. They are essentially re edits of older photographs given a very grainy textured look to them in Photoshop. Please enjoy.

Digital Art – Update

This months Digital art based picture is an odd one. I made what supposed to be a ghostly face using the bottom of the drinks holder from McDonalds. I normally get a milkshake on a Saturday as a bit of a treat and because we have to carry them, the staff give us a double cardboard holder to put them in. If you turn it upside down and look at it, it can look like something out of a horror movie. So adding 'Monster lighting' from below and a textured overlay in Photoshop, I made the picture..

Its not really scary like a picture of something demonic or a life sized picture of my fat hairy arse, but its a close enough.

Digital Art – Update

These four digital art images are of Munira Model taken at our second shoot with her (more below). The original versions were blurred because I screwed up and used the wrong lens on the camera. Still not the end of the world when you can do some digital manage on them and make them look reasonable again. I know I am giving the game away here, but you only learn by your mistakes.

Digital Art Update

Only a one off offering this month with a still from Decembers shoot with Mercybongo at The Boardroom Studio in Derby. I used a lot of bokeh in the picture which is what I did many moons ago with some of the old flower shots that can be seen on the website. Its a good way to hide empty spaces?

Digital Art - Update

Turn back the clock to Novembers blog when I spoke about a shoot I did in the Boardroom Studio and Zavod Studio on the same day? One was with tattooed model Izzy Holliday a recreation of a panel from a graphic novel called 'Judgement On Gotham' (Judge Dredd vs Batman) where Judge Death is being tormented by his fears (Cuddly toys) With Izzy we also made a pictures with Izzy kicking a vending machine in Death Valley. picture is called 'Shit ! …. and I came all this way …?' Notice the child's tricycle and UFO's above. So who has come all this way?

Check out also pictures of taken of Xenia Model in the Debbie Harry 'Koo Koo' inspired LP, shot in her Zavod Studio in Sheffield/.The pins through her face were created by using knitting needles and added to the portrait in post production (Photoshop) edit As well as a simple portrait that stops and makes you look twice … asking what is wrong with this picture? There is also a one of digital creation featuring Mercybongo. That I will go into in the shoot section below.

Digital Art Update

Just a few digital art special I made from six of the images featuring Mercybongo at our recent shoot. They are a mixture of flowers and model, I do mean to get back to doing a bit more digital art as I had been doing when Covid came along, but its getting inspired to do it. Maybe in the new year?
